HEC has developed a number of faculty hiring programs focused to ease the critical shortage of qualified faculty in the public sector institutions of higher education and also to produce fine engineers and scientists across a broad range of disciplines by only hiring experienced pedagogues where ever available, specially expatriates.
In a nutshell, through the Foreign Faculty Hiring Program, HEC aspires to bring a positive change in the culture of higher education institutions in all domains of academic activities including development of infrastructure, academic standards, curriculum, and knowledge dissemination
through refined teaching / examination / grading methodologies, industry-academia linkage, international collaborative research and fine supervisory acumen which results in creation of knowledge. There has been considerable progress in the targeted areas due to the faculty hiring Programs. The Program will generate linkages between local and foreign institutions, encouraging long-term sustainable scientific collaborations. Foreign faculty members will be expected to supervise world class graduate level research and deliver cutting-edge graduate level courses in their academic disciplines.
Moreover, FFHP has been launched with the specific objective of supervising scholars inducted under the HEC’s Indigenous Ph.D. programme. The Indigenous Ph.D. programme which was simultaneously launched with FFHP envisaged training of 1000 Ph.D. scholars per year. These scholars require necessary supervision for which foreign faculty is to be hired. The foreign professors hired under FFHP are thus entrusted with this task of guiding the scholars. It is anticipated that these future educators, industrialists and civil servants will maintain the high international standards imparted to them by the foreign faculty participating in this scheme.
