The Higher Education Commission has launched various programs of collaboration with other international bodies to enhance the research and training capacity of higher education institutions of Pakistan. These programs are initiated to establish linkages between universities or a specific department of universities of Pakistan and international universities or departments of international universities, for a period of few years.

These programs, initiated by Higher Education Commission, are aimed not only to improve the quality of education but also increase external and internal efficiency of university education. These programs shall also help in upgrading the quality of research through staff development and provision of better facilities. The schemes under these programs provide opportunities to our institutes to benefit from highly qualified teachers and scientists of other universities for a short duration reagrding various activities...

A number of programs for training of faculty members, researchers and other scientific/ technical staff of public sector universities and degree awarding institutions is launched by HEC to support short term training in their fields of interest. These programs have been designed with the objective to accelerate research and development in our institutes where such programs serve as catalysis to the technological and socio-economic development of the country...

A couple of programs have been launched to consolidate / share our academic and research experiences/ achievements at national as well as international level along with giving international exposure to teachers and researchers in their respective fields. There are two programs running under this head; one of the program deals with extending financial assistance to public sector universities for conducting seminars/ conferences/ symposiums/ workshops etc. while the other program deals with extending travel grants mainly to the faculty of public and private sector universities and degree awarding institutions for presenting their research papers in International conferences abroad. This program also provides travel support for pursuing Ph.D. studies and post doc training courses etc abroad.
